GUIDED MEDITATION: Give your body a mental hug
Here’s a little window into a workshop I thought on Buddhism. If each day seems to fly by and you find that you’re “too busy or distracted to meditate”… maybe try taking 11 minutes for yourself and rest with this guided meditation.
I created it to help my students practice rest and relaxation - yes we actually need to practice this! It will allow you to be with your body in a loving way, and create space to answer what you are longing for / what your intentions are.
I describe it as giving your body a mental hug.
Guided Meditation on Wise Speech
We might think of wise speech as speech that aims to not cause harm. And it's not always clear when our words cause harm. So, it's a practice.
We begin this practice by simply paying attention to what we are saying and ask ourselves:
What is my intention for speaking?
Is it true?
Is it kind / beneficial?
Is it necessary?
Try bringing your attention to what you say and what you don't say and your intentions behind both.
Challenge yourself to speak the truth using words that inspire self-confidence, joy, and hope, in ourselves and in all beings.
If we practice wise speech, we know that the ripples from our words will begin to bring more peace to our world. Committing to the simple awareness of our speech is the first step.
When we notice that we are using harsh or dishonest speech toward ourselves or others, it's a perfect opportunity to go back to our breath without judgement, and relax. We can always go back and make amends or restate what we were trying to say.
